The CBDv cannabinoid may be rare, but it has a lot of potential to offer consumers. At ATLRx, we’re committed to providing our customers with the widest range of cannabinoids possible, and that includes CBDv! Learn more about this compound, how it works, and our CBDv products below.

What is CBDv?

CBDv is short for cannabidivarin and belongs to the family of cannabinoids in cannabis plants.

This minor cannabinoid doesn’t tend to have super high levels within typical plants, but researchers have recently discovered that it appears as though you can find higher levels of CBDv within indica landrace strains—though these aren’t very common anymore.

As the name suggests, CBDv is a cannabinoid that’s closely related to CBD; they both have very similar chemical structures. CBDv is also a non-psychoactive cannabinoid, like CBD. As a result, even if you consume a lot of it, you will not get high. Instead, the CBDv cannabinoid is well-known for its uniquely supportive results.

If you’re interested in seeing if your local strains have high CBDv percentages, it’s worth noting that, usually, the higher the CBD amount, the higher the CBDv as well.

CBDv FAQ's

CBDv and CBD products differ because they are two completely different cannabinoids. Though they have similar chemical structures, the two compounds act uniquely in the body.

While CBDv is a minor cannabinoid, CBD is much more abundant, especially in hemp plants. This makes products like CBDv hemp a bit rarer than just CBD hemp; however, you can access both from reputable retailers. Since CBDv is present in lower amounts, CBDv products may be a bit pricier than your typical CBD product; this has to do with the added effort regarding extraction.

Much more research has gone into CBD and its properties, likely because it’s much more copious in the plant than CBDv. This means that we do know a bit more about CBD than CBDv, but this may change in the future with more studies and clinical trials.

Professionals will extract and make CBDv products similar to how they do it with CBD products. The process starts by taking hemp flower and subjecting them to some kind of solvent — typically, CO2. The solvent works to destroy the plant material while simultaneously isolating the remaining plant oils that contain cannabinoids and terpenes.

Once the plant material is destroyed and only compounds remain, the professionals will work using various methods to isolate only the CBDv from the mix (if they’re creating pure CBDv products, that is). From here, a CBDv extract is curated, and the extractors can infuse this extract into edibles, oils, topicals, and more.

No, CBDv products do not cause you to get high. The CBDv cannabinoid is non-psychoactive, and its chemical structure doesn’t allow it to bind well to the receptors in the brain. With this weak affinity, the compound doesn’t have the properties necessary to make you high — even if you take a large amount of CBDv.

Instead, people turn to a CBDv product to experience the unique supportive work in the body that it presents, not for any intoxicating results.

No, a drug test will not detect CBDv on its own. Drug tests look for a metabolite in the body that appears after THC or THC variants break down. This metabolite doesn’t come from CBD variants, though.

You might fail a drug test if you don’t take care when using CBDv products. Some CBDv products are considered “full-spectrum,” which means that they contain 0.3% THC or less. This is federally legal; however, if you consume it daily, it may create a small buildup of THC in the body. This buildup can be detected on a drug test, causing you to test positive for marijuana.

While this is uncommon, it does happen. So, it’s important to stick to pure CBDv products and read the COAs of the products to ensure that THC levels are 0%.

Yes, if you know what to look for. When buying CBDv products, you should be careful and cognizant of the products you’re buying and who you’re buying them from. If you buy from brands that don’t offer ample information about the product ingredients, extraction methods, or purity and potency levels, these are huge red flags. The best, safest CBDv products are going to come from transparent brands that always allow customers access to updated, comprehensive COAs and other product information.

In terms of the experience, CBDv is good because it can’t get you high, so you don’t have to worry about any unpleasant feelings associated with intoxication in that manner. However, if you consume too much CBDv, you may experience unpleasant results; so, you should always purchase high-quality products and start with small doses to have the best, most beneficial experience possible.

Yes, in the United States, CBDv is legal. In the US, hemp and hemp-derived products that contain less than 0.3% THC are legal under the 2018 Farm Bill. This means that CBDv products that follow those guidelines are legal throughout the country.

It’s important to note that some states have regulations regarding certain product types or extract types, so you should always check the laws in your area before buying the CBDv product that’s piquing your interest.

The cost of CBDv products is going to vary depending on the manufacturer, their ingredients, and even the extraction processes utilized.

Here at ATLRx, our CBDv products range in price from $29.99 to $49.99, giving you a good range depending on your budget.
