Is Delta-8 THC Safe

The CBD industry has changed quite a bit within a short amount of time due to the discovery of alternate cannabinoids, most notably being Delta-8 THC. Of course, there are certain health concerns with finds like this in an unregulated market. And it doesn’t help that the CBD industry is unregulated. At ATLRx, we are often asked if Delta-8 THC is safe to buy. We are quick to answer yes, but that is with our products in mind because we know our sources come from the top farms in Colorado and Oregon. We use the cleanest extraction form and have all of the conversion processes and tests administered in a DEA-certified lab. We cannot speak for other companies, but we can tell you what you need to know to buy 100% safe Delta-8 THC and other alternate cannabinoids.

First, there are a few things that are necessary to understand. We need to know what CBD (cannabinol) is, where it comes from, and what it has to do with Delta-8 THC. Then, we can have a closer look at Delta-8 THC—and the precautions to take when you’re purchasing D8 in-store or online. From there, you can navigate your way around the market—and learn even more about the other alternate cannabinoids such as THCv, Hemp-Derived Delta-9 THC, Delta-10 THC, THC-O, and HHC. This list may be overwhelming, but there are over 100 cannabinoids in a hemp plant. There are even more out there—and even more on the way.

CBD hit the ground running in 2016, sitting at about a $650 million dollar value—which is massive. The industry scaled onto another echelon once the health and wellness community got their hands on it in 2020. CBD is a non-intoxicating cannabinoid. By 2025, the industry is expected to be worth nearly 30 billion dollars. Several factors have led to this scenario; the pandemic, the growth of CBD knowledge, and the discovery of alternate cannabinoids. The discovery of Delta-8 THC brought a legal psychoactive cannabinoid to the market.

Delta-8 THC’s legality is through the Federal Farm Bill of 2018, a bill that Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul advocated for to get their home state of Kentucky in competitor form against other hemp farms. Hemp is often confused for Marijuana, it isn’t Marijuana, but the confusion isn’t tricky to understand. Both hemp and Marijuana are two different species of cannabis. Marijuana is packed with Delta-9 THC, the psychoactive component that has been the topic of legalization and recreational uses. Marijuana also has CBD, but not a readily available amount as hemp does. There is nothing readily available in the hemp plant that is psychoactive or intoxicating like in Marijuana. There has to be chemical intervention to make anything derived from hemp able to be classified as psychoactive.

CBD has to be extracted from the hemp plant using specific methods. The form of extraction is vital for making a quality and safe Delta-8 product. ATLRx uses the cleanest and purest extraction form called Supercritical CO2 and ethanol. This provides a crystal clear and pure distillate for our CBD products and our Delta 8 THC products. Be sure to ask your Delta-8 THC provider where they source from and what form of extraction is used in creating their products. If there is a problem with their response, and no one seems to have any idea—then keep searching. We are now in the fourth year of the Delta-8 THC market. It should be standard across the industry. Still, because the industry is so saturated, you have to do a little investigating yourself to identify those trying to defraud folks out of their money.

After the CBD distillate is extracted, it is tested to ensure clean and safe. From here, the conversion process takes place. It is called isomerization. Delta-8 THC is only available in trace amounts, so in order to get a larger quantity–the chemical solvent is necessary. Even though Delta-8 THC is technically synthetic, it does naturally live in the plant. The Federal Farm Bill of 2018 placed all of the alternate cannabinoids in the grey area of the bill, thereby classifying Delta-8 THC (any alternative cannabinoid as well) as legal—so long as it’s hemp-derived and has a Delta-9 THC dry weight of less than 0.3%.

ATLRx has a comprehensive collection of Delta-8 THC products that are guaranteed to be safe. Our team is there from the source to the packaging. We use the cleanest form of extraction, testing for pesticides, metals, solvents, and other toxic debris. We test our products multiple times before and after the conversion processes. Then we take our certificates of analysis (COAs) and make them available in the form of a QR code so that you can see the lab report yourself. ATLRx has a transparency policy, which has allowed us to stand out in the industry. It felt necessary that we comply with the federal regulations and procedures of where we source from—recreational states, Oregon and Colorado. Purchasing Delta-8 THC and other alternate cannabinoids from us means that you receive a premier product made with love and care. Yes, Delta-8 THC is safe to buy; but make sure that you ask the right questions to determine if the products are safe.
