Motion Sickness

Last month we went to Bali and Australia before the Coronavirus escalated.  We ended up having to cut our trip short to head back to the US but we were able to have 2 weeks in Australia and of course we brought some of our products with us to make sure we were taken care of.

Obviously right now, getting on boats with friends is not in the cards but maybe this post will inspire you to daydream or even book a trip to the nearest lake or ocean when we are able to safely travel again.

We spent some time in Sydney with wonderful and hospitable friends.  They had a catamaran named “Baguette” and we were able to go on twice while there.  The temperature was perfect, the water was clear, and the drinks were flowing! We lathered up the sun screen and hit the ocean. There were a few people in the group who hadn’t been on a boat in a while and they quickly began to suffer from motion sickness at the beginning of our voyage. Luckily, we were toting our CBD tincture!

What is motion sickness?  Motion sickness occurs when you senses are receiving mixed signals.  Your eyes see one thing, your muscles feel another, and your inner ears sense something else.  Your brain may not be able to process everything and that creates the sick or dizzy feeling when in a boat, car, or amusement ride.  Motion sickness can cause dizziness, excessive sweating, pale skin, headaches, and shallow breathing.  If you have ever gotten motion sickness, you know it’s not fun.  All of this can be avoided using our CBD oil.  It helps with nausea, dizziness, and vomiting.  By taking CBD before you hop on a boat, it will start the process sooner so you can make sure you won’t be experiencing any symptoms of motion sickness.  Using CBD oil will help your brain be able to understand all the signals the senses are gathering.

For starters, it inhibits an enzyme known as fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) — which is responsible for breaking down our endocannabinoids. By blocking this enzyme, we can also increase anandamide levels in your brain.

When anandamide activates the endocannabinoid receptors in the nausea center of the brain, it will alleviate symptoms of motion sickness.

CBD has another benefit of keeping the sympathetic nervous system (SNS) from going crazy. This has multiple advantages of relieving nausea and anxiety — which are closely related and frequently happen at the same time.

It didn’t take long for our friends to feel the effects of CBD and they were able to enjoy the rest of the cruise.

As an added bonus, You can even add in CBD oil to your sunscreen as well!
